The Body Keeps The Score: A Self-Development Study Group

Join us for an enlightening and transformational study group experience, “The Body Keeps The Score: A Self-Development Study Group,” where we will explore the profound impact of trauma on our minds, bodies, and lives. This event is crafted with the purpose of nurturing growth, understanding the deep effects of trauma, and discovering the roadmap to healing and resilience.

    March 14th- 6:30-8pm

    March 21st- 6:30-8pm

    March 28th- 6:30-8pm

    April 4th- 6:30-8pm

    Online via Google Meet

Target Audience: Our doors are open for Self-Development Enthusiasts, Trauma Survivors, and members of the Wellness Community who are on a quest for healing and personal expansion. We welcome healing professionals who desire to dig deeper into the mind-body connection alongside us.

Focus: Delving into the groundbreaking work of Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, as highlighted in his seminal book, The Body Keeps the Score, the study group will examine how traumatic experiences shape our existence. We will look closely at scientific insights revealing trauma’s ability to reform the body and brain, influencing individuals’ ability to experience joy, engage socially, exercise self-regulation, and build trust.

In the safe space of our group, practice the very techniques that activate the brain’s innate neuroplasticity—paving the way to recovery. Our sessions will cover a spectrum of innovative treatments, including neurofeedback, meditation, physical activities, and expressive therapies that hold the key to unlocking profound healing.

You need not read the book in it’s entirety to benefit from this group, though it can be a useful tool to supplement the conversation.

Facilitator: Andrea Adams is a Clinical Intern at Parasol Wellness Collaborative and has a Bachelor’s in English Literature, a master’s Certificate in Holistic Health from St. Catherine’s University, and is currently completing a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counselng at Adler University. She brings a passion for holistic health to her work, as well as a love of reading.

Endorsements: Deemed an essential read by experts and heralded as a New York Times best seller, this study group will leverage guidance from “The Body Keeps the Score” to empower participants in their healing journeys.

“Essential reading for anyone interested in understanding and treating traumatic stress and the scope of its impact on society.” – Alexander McFarlane, Director of the Centre for Traumatic Stress Studies

Building a stronger, more connected relationship is within reach. Join our comprehensive relationship class, crafted with love and expertise by trained marital counselors. Begin your joint adventure towards deeper understanding and love.

*There are many benefits for those who make the commitment to marriage and manage to maintain a successful relationship. Happily married couples tend to have better physical and emotional health, greater financial stability and increased wealth, more sexual satisfaction, and children that do better academically, relationally and emotionally than those of single or unhappily married couples (Waite & Gallagher, 2000; Antonovics & Town, 2004; Carlson, 2006). However, getting married is still very risky since the divorce rate continues to be high. The rate of divorce increases with the number of previous marriages.

Quality premarital preparation, like PREPARE/ENRICH, can reduce the risk of divorce and increase relationship skills and satisfaction. In a survey of 3,334 couples, premarital education programs were found to reduce divorce by 31% (Stanley, Amato, Johnson, & Markman, 2006). Participants with premarital education had higher marital satisfaction, higher commitment, and lower marital conflict.

Our unique group classes offer a dual advantage: the power of community learning and individualized, evidence-based assessments to tailor your experience from day one. Cultivate a relationship that thrives with every session.

Are you once again making a New Year’s Resolution to finally just get the weight off, fix your hormones, improve your energy, or name your thing??
What if I told you you could do all that but NOT fall of the resolution wagon by Jan 20th (which is super common by the way)?
I have a new membership starting in January and it’s called the ALL YEAR Resolution. By joining, you receive monthly meetings where we discuss your health concerns and me or someone from my team gives you expert and educated guidance to help you through month to month.
This keeps everyone accountable. You’re consistently building habits and changes that keep you moving towards your goals rather than some strict, overly zealous routine or eating restriction that has you feeling defeated, frustrated and like a failure yet again!
The BEST News is…you can get monthly support from credentialed and/or licensed nutrition professionals for a fraction of the investment of 1:1 rates (but not the fraction of the quality nutrition education) by joining the ALL YEAR Resolution now.
