I believe therapy can be beneficial in so many areas, such as seeking clarity in your life, wanting to work through difficult emotions, processing traumatic experiences, challenging negative thinking patterns, and focusing on personal growth. I work to create a safe space in which people can express themselves and feel comfortable with that expression. I strive to help my clients find their own strengths and solutions to make the changes they desire in their own life. I believe it is important to look forward to the future and better understand our past. I use compassion, understanding, and make even the most uncomfortable of topics approachable. I believe that therapy is a collaborative process and guides clients to increase self-awareness, gain new perspectives, decrease symptoms, and increase personal strengths to live a more meaningful and fulfilling life.
I am passionate about helping individuals, families, and relationships of any kind to help people more wholly connect with themselves and others. I enjoy working with children, adolescents, adults and families dealing with life transitions, substance abuse, depression, anxiety, parenting difficulties and those that have experienced trauma. I have a particular interest in assisting parents feel more confident in their parenting abilities and connecting with their children and spouses. I also have expertise in the area of co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders at the individual, couples, and family systems level.
I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC). I received a Bachelor’s Degree from Gustavus Adolphus College, and a Master’s of Science Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling with a specialty in addictions from St Cloud State. I have worked in a number of settings including schools, treatment centers, psychiatric facilities and community mental health.
