Jane M Borgen, MSW LGSW
Jane Borgen recently graduated from Winona State University with a Licensed Graduate degree in Social Work. She is a BSW, LADC, MSW-Clinical Trainee for LICSW.
In December 2021, she earned her Bachelor of Social Work and, in 2023, obtained certification in Addiction Counseling, becoming a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC). She is a Clinical Social Worker in training with a focus on addiction, working with women, adolescents, families, and individuals as an agent of support and guidance in her role as a mental health counselor. Jane discovered her passion for advocacy and social justice during her undergraduate internship, where she completed 480 hours in Child Protection with Olmsted County. She remains committed to advancing her education and professional practice in social work.
Her career reflects a strong commitment to serving both community and individual needs. Jane specializes in Trauma-Informed Care and supports clients with Co-Occurring Disorders, including substance use disorders. Her approach emphasizes therapeutic and rehabilitative interventions that foster strong alliances with clients, teaching coping strategies and developing self-awareness to address behaviors and identifying environmental and emotional triggers impacting mental health and substance use.
Jane was currently a case-carrying Primary Counselor for adult women in a Residential Substance Use and Co-Occurring Disorders facility, where she utilizes her LADC license. She has extensive experience working with children and teens experiencing emotional disturbances, providing skills training, crisis assistance, mental health plan development, psychotherapy, and support in areas such as domestic violence, depression, grief and loss, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, and substance abuse. She recently completed training in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART).
Her background and training have equipped her to be an effective social worker who advocates for and supports diverse populations. She has completed 480 hours of clinical internship working with adolescents with substance use and mental health diagnoses and is currently completing 600 hours of advanced MSW clinical practice with adults experiencing similar challenges.
