From the Ashes Counseling
Legends across time and cultures tell of the mythical Phoenix who, when tired and consumed by the burdens of life, builds herself a nest of aromatic woods atop a temple, bursts into flames, and then rises from her own ashes to start a new, long life. Jenn believes that this powerful image symbolizes our own capacity for change, growth, and renewal, despite the experiences in our lives that may burden us, or cause us to feel stuck.
Jenn holds a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Argosy University, and is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Minnesota. Jenn is also certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Jenn has experience providing mental health services to children, adults, and families in the outpatient setting, as well as in schools and in home. Jenn has a particular interest in working with adults who have experienced trauma, the adverse effects of diet culture, or who are generally feeling “stuck” in life. She is also able to address a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, self-esteem, grief and loss, and parenting or relational concerns.
Jenn views her clients as the experts of their own experiences and journey and, thus, strives to meet her clients where they’re at, and walk alongside them as they make desired changes. Jenn believes in the power of helping clients to recognize and then build off of their existing strengths, and develop strong self-care and meaningful connections within their families and communities, as a means of desired changes. Jenn is also dedicated to creating balance and room for self-care within her personal life: she enjoys spending time with her family, weight training, reading, and traveling.
