First Responder Support
The work of a first responder has unique stressors that impact their overall well-being and the well-being of their family members. Over the course of a career, these stressors can compound leaving the first responder feeling like they are not the same person they used to be or their spouse feels like the job has changed them and they aren’t sure where to go from here.
Parasol’s Mel Koenen, specializes in working with First Responders and family members, is connected personally to many in the first responder field, and also professionally in the trainings she has taken to become cop-competent. She strives to help the first responder and their family members navigate the challenges these careers bring. Mel is trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) to help resolve the inevitable traumas First Responders will encounter over the course of the job. Mel believes there are many ways to healing from laughter to diving down in the hole and helping you find your way out. Mel also brings her golden retriever, Addie, with on certain days.
Many first responders may have questions on whether using insurance and receiving a diagnosis is right for them. Mel can walk through the pros and cons of private pay versus insurance and help you determine the right fit for you.
